DIRECT MEDICAL COST ANALYSIS FOR DIABETIC PATIENTS AT PEOPLE'S HOSPITAL 115 IN THE PERIOD OF 2019-2022

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the direct medical costs associated with the treatment of diabetes at People's Hospital 115 from 2019 to 2022. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study design was adopted. Data for all diabetes treatment visits for patients covered by health insurance during the period were gathered and examined using Excel. Results: A total of 151,749 treatment visits were recorded. Of these, 99.2% were outpatient treatments, and 98.0% were for type 2 diabetes. The study population comprised 46.2% males, with an average age of 63.4 (±11.0) years. Medication accounted for the highest proportion of direct medical costs: 53.2% for type 1, 78.9% for type 2, and 40.7% for other diabetes categories. Conclusion: The research provides valuable insights into the cost structure for diabetic inpatients and outpatients with health insurance at PH115. The findings can support hospital management in decision-making related to administrative activities and budget allocation for specialized operations.
