ASSESSMENT OF THE QUALITY OF LIFE AND SOME RELATED FACTORS OF LABOR PATIENTS MANAGEMENT TREATMENT AT PHU VANG DISTRICT HEALTH CENTER, THUA THIEN HUE PROVINCE

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) has a great impact on the quality of life of infected people. However, there have not been many studies on this issue in Phu Vang district despite the high incidence of this disease. Objective: To evaluate the quality of life and learn some factors related to the above problem of TB patients being treated in Phu Vang district. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 255 TB patients being managed and treated at Phu Vang District Health Center. Patients were interviewed using self-designed questionnaires about general information of study subjects and knowledge of tuberculosis. Assess social support by MSPSS scale, quality of life according to SF-36 scale. Results: The quality of life score of the study subjects was 38.69 (26.56 – 64.31). In which, the physical health score is 38.54 (23.33 - 69.58), mental health is 37.83 (28.50 - 69.58). Factors related to the quality of life of TB patients include age (β = -0.33), job loss/decreased employment/income when infected with TB (β = -8.59). information on tuberculosis at diagnosis (β = 5.2), treatment stage (β = -10.25), side effects of drugs during treatment (β = -14.81), use alcohol use (β = 5.96), social support (β = 3.82) and feeling stigmatized (β = -6.62). Conclusion: The quality of life of TB patients is still at an average level. Factors related to quality of life include age, loss/reduction of employment/income when infected with TB, information about TB when diagnosed, stage of treatment, side effects of drugs during treatment, alcohol use, social support and feelings of stigma (p < 0.05).
