Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effects of spinal manipulation method combined with electroacupuncture treatment for low back pain caused by spondylolisthesis. Evaluate the side effects of the method. Subjects and research methods: a randomized clinical intervention, comparison before and after treatment, with control group on 60 patients aged 38 years and older with confirmed diagnosis of low back pain due to lumbar spondylosis at the ward 1 medical station, Tan Binh district from January 2022 to the end of August 2022. Research group: 30 patients were treated by therapeutic spinal impact combined with electroacupuncture. Control group: 30 patients treated with electro-acupuncture (the same regimen as the study group) combined with acupressure. Results: After 14 days of treatment, the average value of VAS score, the range of motion of the lumbar spine in the back, right tilt, left side, right rotation, left rotation, the average value of the improvement of living function (ODI) in the study group had a good improvement compared to before treatment and compared with the control group. This difference is statistically significant with p<0.05. The mean value of Schober index in the study group was better than before treatment, but the difference was not statistically significant p>0.05. The symptoms of traditional medicine improved in both groups, showing best in low back pain - pain increased when moving, lying down to relieve pain - fear of cold with p<0.05 when compared the study group with the control group. Patients achieved a good rate of 66.7% and a good rate of 30.0%, a clinically effective change in pain relief through the VAS scale and improvement of lumbar spine range of motion. There were no cases of patients experiencing undesirable effects. Conclusion: The method of spinal manipulation combined with electro-acupuncture is a safe and effective method in the treatment of low back pain due to spondylolisthesis.
