Abstract

Objectives: Assess the psychological disorders and their relationship with caregiver burden in the middle stage of Alzheimer’s disease. From August 2019 to June 2020, 52 main caregivers of people with Alzheimer diease was registered in National Geriatric Hospial. Results: Average age of caregiver was 53.75 ± 15.58 and male/female: 53.8/46.2. The average care burden (ZBI) is 40.08 ± 17.12. Psychological disorders in primary caregivers included 40.4% of cases with anxiety (21.2% moderate, 19.2% mild); 30.8% of cases were depressed (19.2% mild, 11.6% moderate), and 25% of cases had symptoms of stress (mostly mild stress 23.1%). There was no difference between the psychosocial distress of caregivers of early-onset and late-onset Alzheimer's patients. Burden of caregiver was strongly linearly correlated with total DASS score (r=0.835 with p=0,000), anxiety (r=0.763 with p=0,000) and stress (r). =0.798 with p=0,000); depression (r=0.725 with p=0,000).
