Abstract

The study was conducted with the goal of reporting the results of screening for hypertension in people ≥40 years old in the community in Lai Chau province in 2021 - 2022. In total 91,620 eligible subjects were invited to participate. During the study, village health workers will screen all subjects, if people are suspected of having high blood pressure (systolic blood pressure 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥ 90mmHg) will be directed to the health station. commune to make a diagnosis of hypertension. Screening results on 91,620 subjects showed that the rate of hypertension in people ≥40 years old was 20.5%, of which in men and women accounted for 51.6%, 48.4%, respectively. Hypertension level 1 accounted for the highest rate in both men and women, respectively 96.2% and 97.0%. Screening results show that the number of people with undetected hypertension in the community is still very large. Community-based hypertension screening programs need to be implemented and maintained in order to detect people with hypertension and bring people with hypertension into management and treatment under the guidance of the Ministry of Health.
