Abstract

Objectives: Results of minimally invasive thyroid surgery with video-assisted surgery (MIVAT). Objects-Research Methods: An overview research was undertaken by scanning the databases of Pubmed, Google Scholar, and Cochrane for documents published between 1998 and June 2022. The studies on video-assisted thyroid surgery (MIVAT) will be outcome-based. Results: Of the 20 studies that were chosen, 13 cross-sectional descriptive research papers and 7 longitudinal studies were included. Italian research accounts for 65% of the total. MIVAT should be applied only in cases of papillomas, nodules less than 35mm. Total thyroidectomy is the surgical technique that is most frequently utilized. The hospital stay is usually not more than 4 days (only 1 case)74 ± 7.2 days of hospital stay. Complication rates are modest, and only 10% of patients will have VTE or lifelong hypocalcaemia. Over 62.5% of people express aesthetic enjoyment. Conclusion: Minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy has demonstrated advantages such as low complication rates, high patient satisfaction, and improved cosmetic results. The appropriate indication for this surgical method is for small tumors <35mm.
