Abstract

In gastric cancer, the XELOX chemotherapy regimen combines Oxaliplatin and Capecitabine, with high treatment efficiency, few side effects, and improved overall survival and disease-free survival. Purpose: To assess the side effects of XELOX regimen in stomach cancer stage II - IIIC at K Hospital. Methods: the side effects were recorded in 109 gastric cancer patients receiving adjuvant treatment with Xelox regimen. Results: The side effects are, mostly grade 1, 2. Decrease of hemoglobin is the most common, accounting for 49.7%. The rate of leukopenia, granulocytosis, and thrombocytopenia were accounted in 11.6%, 28%, 26.4%, respectively. Elevated hepatic enzymes as SGOT and SGPT were found in 1.72% and 1.3%, respectively. Conclusion: Adjuvant chemotherapy with XELOX is a safe regimen, with few side effects, mostly in grade 1, 2.
