FACTORS RELATED TO QUALITY OF WORK LIFE OF NURSING AT THE HOSPITAL

Abstract

Background: Currently, Vietnam is one of the countries facing the challenge of shortage of health resources. Nursing is the person who cares directly for the patient, the effectiveness of care is associated with the improvement of the patient's health. Therefore, quality of nursing work life (QoWL) is very important for nursing as it affects the safety and quality of care provided to patients as well as organizational factors. So that, what is the quality of nursing work life today? Objectives: To determine the average of quality of nursing work life score and the factors related to quality of work life. Method: A cross-sectional descriptive design was conducted on 123 nurses working in departments of Le Van Thinh Hospital, District 4 Hospital and Tan Phu District Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, 2023, selected by using convinient sample method. Results: The study showed that the average  quality of nursing work life score of District 4 Hospital, Tan Phu Hospital, Le Van Thinh Hospital were value of  3,67 ± 0,38 (calculated on a 5-point Likert scale). The components constituting the quality of work life of nurses all had average to good scores and ranged from 3,30 to 3,93. In particular, the social contact component with the job has the highest average score and the fair and proportionate compensation component has the lowest average score. Factors related to the quality of nursing work life include gender, department/office, frequency of night shifts and income. Conclusion: The quality of nursing work life of  District 4 Hospital, Tan Phu Hospital, Le Van Thinh Hospital is relatively good.
