Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effect of PRF on soft tissue after surgical removal of mandibular third molar in the patients who were extracted in Dental Clinic of Odonto-Stomatology Institute and Faculty of Dentistry, Haiphong Medical University Hospital in 2020-2021. Subjects: 52 patients with mandibular third molars which were impacted and medium level of difficult divided into two groups: PRF was placed in the extraction sockets in one group, whereas the other group was left without treatment. The outcome variables were pain, swelling, maximum mouth opening and inflammation on the first, third and seventh day post-operatively, and bleeding on 12h, 24h, 48h post-operatively. Method: a interventional case controlled study. Result and conclusion: There was significant reduction in pain, specially at 1st and 3rd post‑PRF placement day(p<0,05). There were no significant differences between the control and study groups regarding postoperative swelling, bleeding and inflammation (p > 0.05). The trimus on 1st postoperative days differed between two groups (p < 0.05), but did not differ on 3rd and 7th day (p> 0.05).
