FEATURES OF ANXIETY DISORDERS ASSESSED BY THE HADS IN HEART VALVE REPLACEMENT PATIENTS

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the characteristics of anxiety disorders in patients undergoing heart valve replacement surgery according to the HADS scale (Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale). Subjects and research methods: Patients underwent artificial heart valve replacement surgery after 1 month at Hanoi Heart Hospital from September 2022 to the end of December 2022. Results: During the study period, a total of 200 study subjects were operated on, of which women accounted for 63%. The age group ≥ 60 accounted for the highest percentage (44.5%), the average age of the study population was 56.1±10.9. The majority of subjects have high school education (88.5%). Most patients underwent mechanical heart valve replacement surgery (98.5%), patients were operated on open surgery with 84%. All patients present with anxiety symptoms. The proportion of patients with real anxiety disorder is 10%, there are 90% of patients with anxiety symptoms. The mean anxiety score of the patients was 8.9 ± 2.1. Regarding what patients worried about, the aspects "Side effects of medication" and "Become the burden on the family" accounted for the highest proportion, with 57.5% and 56.5% respectively. Conclusion: Anxiety in heart valve replacement surgery patients was common, patients often worried about drug side effects and become a burden to their family.
