Abstract

Objective: The study aimed to evaluate the current situation of occupational hepatitis C prevention practice of nurses at Can Tho City Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital in 2022. Research methods: Using a cross-sectional descriptive research design, interviewing 149 nurses working at the Can Tho City Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital through a set of pre-prepared questionnaires and data analysis according to the research objectives. Results: There were 81,2% nurses practicing correct occupational hepatitis C exposure prevention. There were 83,2% nurses practicing correct handling of sharps occupational exposure among nurses exposed to sharp objects in the past 6 months. 10,3% of nurses practiced correct handling of occupational exposure after being exposed to blood and secretions, among nurses who were occupationally exposed to blood and secretions in 6 past month. Conclusion: There are still many nurses who do not practice correctly about occupational hepatitis C prevention. It is necessary to regularly organize training and practice supervision to achieve better prevention of exposure and infection for health workers, especially nurses.
