Abstract

Background: Fatty liver disease (FLD) is a common liver disorder that is increasing in prevalence and has serious consequences. Objective: To determine the prevalence of fatty liver disease and investigate related factors among employees of SY VINA Limited Liability Textile Company (SY VINA Company). Material and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 370 employees of SY VINA Company in Dong Nai province. The employees were interviewed using a set of questions and underwent general abdominal ultrasound from September 2022 to June 2023. Results: The prevalence of fatty liver disease among company employees was 43.24%, with Grade I fatty liver disease being the most common, accounting for 56.88% (91/160). Overweight and obese employees had a higher prevalence of fatty liver disease, with corresponding rates of 31.88% and 31.25%. There was an association between fatty liver disease and age group, BMI group, central obesity status, and the level of fat consumption by employees. Conclusion: The prevalence of fatty liver disease is high among employees who are overweight, obese, and have a high fat intake. Appropriate health education and communication measures are needed to reduce the prevalence of fatty liver disease.
