Abstract

Objectives: Research on fungal etiology and resistance to antifungal drugs of isolated fungal strains in COVID-19 patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases. Methods: We did a retrospective and prospective analysis of 151 COVID-19 patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia, between 04/2021 and 03/2022, at National Hospital of Tropical Diseases. Results and conclusions: C. albicans accounted for the highest proportion of 46.4%; followed by A. fumigatus and C. tropicalis, the proportions are 27.2% and 23.8%, respectively. C. albicans resistant to fluconazole accounted for 3.6% and resistant to amphotericin B accounted for 1.8%. C. tropicalis resistant to fluconazole accounted for 24.1%.
