Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effects of catgut embedding combined with auricular point acupressure in patients with hip lumbar syndrome due to degenerative spine. Subjects: 72 patients diagnosed with hip lumbar syndrome due to degenerative spine divided into study group and control group, treated at Traditional Medicine Department, Saint Paul General Hospital from August 2022 to June 2023. Research method: Controlled clinical intervention, comparison before and after treatment. Results: after 30 days of treatment, the mean VAS score of the study group decreased from 5.64 ± 0.49 to 0.89 ± 0.57 with p < 0.01; this result was statistically significant compared to the control group (VAS decreased from 5.47 ± 0.61 to 1.83 ± 0.65) with p < 0.01. The lumbar spine flexion measurement index and lumbar spine range of movement increased significantly higher in the study group than in the control group (p < 0.01). Conclusion: Catgut embedding combined with auricular point acupressure has pain relieving effect and increased the lumbar spine movement in patients with hip lumbar syndrome due to degenerative spine.
