Abstract

Objectives: Describe knowledge, attitudes and practices about breastfeeding in the first 6 months of mothers. Subjects and methods: cross-sectional descriptive study, convenient sampling. Results: The mean age of the study subjects was 32±14.2. Mothers giving birth to their first child accounted for 33%, giving birth to the second child accounted for 57%, and giving birth to the third child accounted for 10%. Having a normal child accounted for a higher rate of 64%. Caesarean section accounts for a lower rate of 36%. The percentage of mothers with correct knowledge about breastfeeding is 68%. The percentage of mothers with the right attitude about breastfeeding is 16%. The percentage of mothers with correct breastfeeding practices is 5%. Conclusion: It is necessary to further promote communication and education on the quality of breast milk to the people and mothers of reproductive age in order to improve the rate of complete knowledge about breastfeeding in the first 6 months.
