Abstract

Objectives: To evaluate complications of transoral laser microsurgery for laryngeal cancer at early stage. Methods & Materials: Retrospective cohort study of 361 patients with laryngeal cancer who had done TLM at Oncology and head and neck surgery departement, ENT national hospital from January 2012 to December 2021. Results: Complications after surgery: Pneumothorax was the most common complication. Some other complications include: (1.93%), infection (0.83%), postoperative bleeding (0.55%), dyspnea (0.27%). 3.1% patients required tracheostomy. Negative margin ratio (97.7%). Conclusion: TLM is highly effective in treating early-stage laryngeal cancer, avoiding open surgery, most do not require tracheostomy, gentle postoperative period, and few complications. Indicated mainly for tumors of stage T1a, T1b, T2. Surgery deserves an important place in the treatment of early laryngeal cancer.
