Abstract

Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of grafting surgery of corneal stromal lenticule taken from SMILE in corneal ulcer patients in Vietnam. Methods: Clinical trials without control group. Corneal stromal lenticule taken from SMILE surgery with a center thickness of 100µm or more are grafted on the perforation by 16 removable 10-0 nylon stitches. Patients were followed for a minimum of 6 months, assessed by visual acuity, graft transparent level, infection status and relapse or perforation. Results: The success rate of corneal grafting surgery treated with corneal stromal lenticule taken from SMILE was 82.1%. All Graft were opaque after 6 month. Conclusion: corneal stromal lenticule from SMILE can be safely and effectively implanted to patch the perforation caused by corneal ulcer.
