RESULTS OF SURGERY FOR PILOCYTIC ASTROCYTOMA IN THE SUBTENTORIAL CEREBELLAR

Abstract

Methods: Retrospective and prospective study on 32 cases of surgery and diagnosis of pilocytic astrocytoma in the subtentorial cerebellar at Viet Duc hospital from January 2021 to December 2022. Results: the mean age was 19 years; the male to ratio of female: 1.67/1. In which, the age group of adolescents and children accounted for 84,4%, the age of over 30 years accounted for 15,6%. The tumor location is located in the pupal lobe and cerebellar hemisphere, accounting for 65.6% for surgical results ,taking the whole tumor was the highest 90%. The group of tumors in the brain stem location had the lowest results of removing all tumors. Conclusion: Pilocytic Astrocytoma is common in young age. The tumor location is usually located in the cerebellum and vermis, this is also the location with the best surgical results.
