Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of intraductal irrigation using normal saline in the treatment of chronic obstructive sialadenitis. Method: The sample consisted 11 patients diagnosed with chronic obstructive sialadenitis. Repeated intraductal irrigation was performed on each affected gland. Pain symptom severity was evaluated using numerical rating scale (NRS). Results: The average NRS score exhibited a significant decrease following the initial irrigation procedures (p=0,001). The average number of visits for intraductal irrigations until the patient reported the cessation of pain (NRS=0-1) is approximately six. Conclusions: The intraductal irrigation using normalsaline is a simple, safe, and effective treatment option for the patients with chronic obstructive sialadenitis.
