FACTORS RELATED TO ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION IN PATIENTS WITH RECURRENT DEPRESSIVE DISORDER

Abstract

Objective: Analysis of some factors related to erectile dysfunction in outpatients with recurrent depressive disorder. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study of 103 outpatients with recurrent depressive disorder at the Psychiatric Clinic - Bach Mai Hospital from August 2022 to August 2023. Results: 57.3% of the patients had erectile dysfunction. There is a relationship between erectile dysfunction with age (OR logistic = 2.83; 1.83 – 4.39), education level (OR = 4.17; 1.79 – 9.72), status marriage (OR = 3.72; 1.51 – 9.2), frequency of sexual intercourse (OR = 4.77; 1.84 – 12.42), masturbation (OR = 2.69; 1.18 – 6.13), duration of depression (OR = 6.32; 2.64 – 15.14) and use of SSRIs (OR = 2.59; 1.00 – 6.72); No association was found between religion, living area, age of sexual intercourse, number of sexual partners, number of previous depressive episodes with erectile dysfunction. Conclusion: There is a relationship between factors such as age, education level, marital status, frequency of sexual intercourse, masturbation, duration of depression, and use of SSRIs in erectile dysfunction outpatients with recurrent depressive disorder. No association was found between religion, living area, age of sexual intercourse, number of sexual partners, and number of previous depressive episodes in this group of patients.
