Abstract

Objective: To describe the knowledge and attitude about the birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine of commune health workers in 2022. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 2022 on 57 commune health workers in 12 commune health stations in Muong Cha district, Dien Bien province. Face-to-face interviews were applied to collect data using a structured questionnaire. Results: The study results showed that 32% and 39% of health workers had adequate knowledge about hepatitis B and the birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine. 49% of healthcare workers had concerns about giving newborn hepatitis B vaccine. 79% and 63% of study subjects had confidence in giving newborn doses of hepatitis B vaccine to children in the first 24 hours at CHCs and at home. Conclusion: The research findings indicate that it is recommended to provide training courses on the birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine for healthcare workers.
