A CASE STUDY: SALMONELLA-INDUCED SMALL BOWEL OBSTRUCTION AND SEPTIC SHOCK
Main Article Content
Abstract
We present a rare and severe case of Salmonella infection in a 26-year-old male patient, demonstrating symptoms of gastrointestinal infection, acute kidney injury, and septic shock. Clinical manifestations and imaging depict a scenario of small bowel obstruction. The patient was prioritized for internal resuscitation, with surgical intervention postponed and close abdominal monitoring. Following an intensive 12-hour resuscitation regimen involving antibiotics, fluid replacement, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), the patient's condition notably improved. Blood and stool cultures revealed the presence of Salmonella bacteria. The patient underwent successful internal medical treatment and was discharged after 14 days.
