CHARACTERISTICS OF SEXUAL ACTIVITIES IN ALCOHOL-DEPENDENT MEN

Abstract
Objective: Describe the situational characteristics of sexual activities in alcoholic men. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study of 81 inpatients with alcohol dependence at the National Institute of Mental Health, Bach Mai Hospital from September 2022 to May 2023. Results: The average age of the study subjects was 47.1 ± 7.8. The average duration of alcoholism was 12.33 ± 5.76 years, severe alcohol use was 23.5%, and moderate and mild were 54.3 and 22.2%, respectively. There was 84% of patients with low frequency of sexual intercourse, 34.5% decreased in sexual desire, 53.1% had difficulty in achieving sexual arousal, 55.6% had problems with erection . The frequency of orgasm was low in 49.4% of the subjects, while 55.6% felt less satisfied with the orgasm. Overall assessment, 54% of patients was not satisfied with their education and love life. Conclusion: Sexual dysfunction is common in alcoholic men, in which there is a decline in all stages of educational sexual activity: desire, excitement, orgasm, and regression. This disorder causes a lot of distress, suffering and affects the quality of life of alcoholics.
