Abstract

Objective: The study has two objectives: (1) to describe the treatment adherence status of outpatient hypertensive patients at Vo Truong Toan University Hospital in 2022, and (2) to analyze various factors related to the treatment adherence of outpatient hypertensive patients at Vo Truong Toan University Hospital in 2022. Methods: A cross-sectional analytical study design was conducted on 243 patients aged 18 and above, diagnosed with hypertension and receiving outpatient treatment at Vo Truong Toan University Hospital in the year 2022. Result: The adherence rate to the treatment regimen according to the MMAS-8 classification is 65%. There is an association between gender, education level, support from family members, and sources of information with patient treatment adherence. Specifically, females have 3.45 times higher odds of non-adherence compared to males, individuals with a high school education have 2.5 times higher odds of non-adherence compared to those with primary education, patients receiving support and reminders from spouses or children have odds ratios of 4.66 and 8.3, respectively, and individuals who receive information and interact with healthcare personnel have 6.8 times higher odds of non-adherence (P<0.05). Conclusion: The treatment adherence rate of outpatient hypertensive patients is not high, and the factors related to patient adherence are gender, education level, interaction with healthcare personnel, and support from family members.
