Abstract

A cross-sectional study on 324 students having experience of cigarette smoking was conducted to describe the current status of cigarette smoking cessation and some related factors among adolescents aged 13-15 years old in Vietnam. The data source was extracted from the Global Youth Tobacco Survey in Vietnam 2022. Multivariate regression analysis was performed to identify factors associated with cigarette smoking cessation among adolescents. Results showed that the smoking cessation rate among adolescents was 80.6% and the main reason for smoking cessation was to protect health 48.7%. Demographic factors statistically significantly associated with cigarette smoking cessation were age and economic conditions (weekly pocket money). To develop effective tobacco prevention and cessation programs, it is necessary to focus on adolescents and consider the above related factors.
