Abstract

Purpose: The early stage (0-4 days) is mainly characterized by the appearance of ground glass opacities (97.4%). The most common morphology is round (23.4%) or geographic-shaped (39%), mainly distributed on both sides (94.8%), in the periphery (76.6%), posterior lobes (45.5%) and lower lobes (84.4%). The progressive stage (5-8 days) is characterized by an increase in the size and number of ground glass with multifocal round morphology (25.5%) and a gradual transition of ground glass to consolidation (72.3 %) along with the development of stone paving (36.2%). The peak stage (9-12 days) is characterized by more extensive lung damage and more diffuse consolidation (88%). Finally, the absorption stage (³13 days), consolidation tends to decrease gradually (81.8%) along with linear morphology (63.6%$) and  geographic-shaped (90.9%). Conclusion: The imaging features of COVID-19 lung lesions are very typical and closely related to disease severity, so the assessment of lung lesions and their distribution contributes to increase the specificity of the diagnosis and disease stages.
