EFFECTS OF PROMOTING PAIN RELIEF AND IMPROVING THE RANGE OF MOTION FOR KNEES BY BACH NIEN KIEN FUNCTIONAL FOODS

Abstract

Objective: Evaluation of the efficacy of promoting pain relief and improving the range of motion for knees by Bach Nien Kien functional foods on patients with knee osteoarthritis. Methods: Clinical intervention study, comparing results of before and after treatments. 60 patients were divided into 2 groups: the study group was treated by electroacupuncture combined with taking Glucosamin sulfat and Bach Nien Kien tablets. the control group was treated by electroacupuncture combine with taking only Glucosamin sulfat. Results: after 30 days, the study group had 10% of good results, 56.7% of rather good results, 26.6% of average results, and 6.7% of poor results. The study group tended to improve better than the control group with p < 0.05. No side effects have been observed in the clinical and paraclinical treatments. Conclusion: Bach Nien Kien capsule has the effect of promoting pain relief, improving knee joint functions on patients with knee osteoarthritis and has not shown any side effects.
