Abstract

Objective: The study aims to describe the results of the mandibular body fractures surgery with Titanium plates and screws at the National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology in 2022 - 2023. Research subjects and methods: The study was conducted on 40 patients with mandibular body fractures who were indicated for surgery with plates and screws at the Hanoi National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology in 2022-2023. The research design used uncontrolled clinical intervention study. Research subjects are patients who fully meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Patients were examined, had medical records for diagnosis, had surgery using Titanium screws then record information on the monitoring sheet before discharge and 2 & 6 weeks after discharge from the hospital. Results: A total of 40 patients participated in the study. The proportion of men is about twice that of women. The proportion of young working age (19-39 years old) accounts for the largest proportion of 57.5%. The younger or older the age, the lower the incidence (the proportion of children under 18 years old accounts for 32.5%, the proportion of middle-aged and elderly people from 40 and over accounts for 10%). The main causes of fractures are traffic accidents (85%) and other types of labor accidents (12.5%), violent accidents and sports accidents are rare (2.5%). The effectiveness of treatment using plates screws has 75% effective rate after 2 weeks and 100% effective rate after 6 weeks of follow-up after discharge from the hospital. Conclusion: The use of plates and screws in the treatment of mandibular fractures is an effective, safe method, and is widely indicated in nearly all cases of mandibular body fractures.
