Abstract

Introduction: We aim to evaluate the outcome of arthroscopic posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using peroneus longus tendon allograft at Viet Duc University Hospital. Subject and Methods: This is an retrospective study on 44 patients underwent undergoing arthroscopic posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using peroneus longus tendon allograftat Viet Duc University Hospital from January 2017 to October 2022. Results: The Lysholm and Gilquist scores showed a significant improvement with a postoperative mean score at the final follow-up of 89.86 ± 9.02, compared to the preoperative mean score of 63.41 ± 7.15. The objective IKDC classification at the final follow-up showed 75% of cases to be normal or nearly normal, and 25% to be abnormal or severely abnormal, compared to 100% classified as abnormal or severely abnormal before surgery. Conclusions: Arthroscopic posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction using an peroneus longus tendon allograftyields favorable postoperative knee joint functional outcomes. This is a suitable option for patients with PCL injuries. The procedure should be promoted and widely adopted in clinical practice.
