Abstract

Aims: To evaluate the results of surgery undergoing rectal amputation. Materials and methods: Retrospective study of low rectal cancer patients undergoing rectal amputation at Viet Duc Hospital from January 2015 to December 2022. Results: 77 patients, including 53 men, 24 women, surgery including laparoscopic 34 (44.2%) and open 43 (55.8%); disease stages I, II, III, IV are 37.7%, 41.6%, 16.9% and 3.9%, respectively. Surgery time 139.0 minutes (70-360), hospital stay 10.8 days (8 - 21), complications 23.4%. The longest follow-up time was 58 months, the overall survival after 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 months was 98.7%, 68.8%, 44.2%, 32.5% and 22.1%, respectively. overall is 37.1± 24.7 months. Conclusion: Surgery undergoing rectal amputation in the treatment of low rectal epithelial cancer is quite effective with low complications and relatively high survival time after surgery.
