THE CHARACTERISTICS OF VALLECULAR CYSTS IN PATIENTS AT THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objective: Describe some characteristics of glossopharyngeal fossa cysts in patients at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital. Subjects: Study subjects include 32 patients with glossopharyngeal fossa cysts treated at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital from October 2022 to July 2023. Methods: Prospective study describing a cluster of cases. Results: Mean age 46.75±11.67; Gender: male (59.4%), female (40.6%). Reason for admission: 100% difficulty swallowing. Time to first symptoms: 1-4 weeks (50%). Functional symptoms: difficulty swallowing 100%, painful swallowing 12.5%. The number of cysts was one (84.4%), two cysts (15.6%); There were no patients with more than 2 cysts. 100%: smooth; Average cyst size: horizontal (0.29±0.10), vertical (0.38±0.11). Pathology, mucous cyst (53.1%), lymphoid cyst (46.9%).
