Abstract

Urinary stones are a very common disease in the urinary system. Ureteral stones account for 28-40% of urinary stone disease cases in Vietnam. Ureteral stones easily adhere to surrounding tissue and need to be treated early. Endoscopic retrograde lithotripsy is a minimally invasive, highly effective surgical method and recommended for the treatment of ureteral stones. Our research was conducted to evaluate the results of 563 cases of ureteral stones treated by endoscopic retrograde lithotripsy from March 2023 to August 2023 at Hanoi Medical University Hospital. Our results show that the average age is 47.6 years old and male patients make up the majority at 57.9%. The average stone size on computed tomography is 12mm, almost are 15mm or less and the majority of stones are located in the upper third of the ureter (59.9%). The average surgery time is 28 minutes, most patients keep the urinary catheter for 1 day after surgery (95.6%), and almost are discharged from the hospital 1 day after surgery (87.9%). The majority of patients' postoperative results were considered good, with a rate of 90.8%. The JJ catheter retention time of most patients is 2 weeks, with 348 cases, accounting for 61.8%.
