Abstract

Objective: Compare some thyroid lesions on fine needle aspiration cytology with histopathology at K hospital. Subjects and methods: cross-sectional descriptive study, convenience sampling. Results: The average age of the study subjects was 47.06 ± 12.33 years old. The female/male ratio is 11.6/1. Diagnosis of malignant cytology and follow-up of histopathology results did not result in false positive diagnoses. Histopathology is all papillary carcinoma, of which: 63.95% (39/63) are micropapillary carcinoma, 19/63 (31.14%) (19/63) are common papillary carcinoma. Usually, there remains 1 case of cystic variant and 2 cases of capsular variant with rates of 1.64% and 3.27%. Cytology method has high sensitivity (98.98%), high specificity (81.81%) and accuracy up to 97.25%, the diagnostic value of benign or malignant is high respectively. are 90% and 97.98%. Conclude: Thyroid carcinoma is common in women, the most common age is 31-50 years old. Cytology is a good method of diagnosing papillary carcinoma with a sensitivity of 98.98% and a specificity of 81.81% and an accuracy of 97.25%.
