SOME FACTORS RELATED TO TOOTH DECAY AMONG 5TH GRADE STUDENTS

Abstract

Purpose: Analysis of some factors related to tooth decay among 5th grade students. This cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 502 12-year-old students (5th grade), studying at Kim Lien - Dong Primary School. Da - Hanoi and Ly Thai To Primary School - Trung Hoa - Cau Giay - Hanoi. Results: Factors that increase the risk of dental caries include the detection of cavities in dentin, opaque white spots on the tooth surface, fillings ≥ 3 years, lots of plaque on teeth, teeth with deep grooves; not brushing their  teeth with fluoride toothpaste twice a day, not using  fluoride mouthwash daily, not applying  Fluor varnish or Fluor gel for at least every 6 months. Conclusion: There are many factors related to tooth decay of 5th grade students in Hanoi.
