SURVEY OF KNOWLEDGE, PRACTICES AND OPINIONS OF HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL ON CLINICAL PHARMACY ACTIVITIES AT NGUYEN TRI PHUONG HOSPITAL

Abstract
Background: Clinical pharmacy (CP) has been strongly developed under the hospital-university model at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital since 2019. This study surveyed the knowledge, practices and opinions of healthcare professionals (HCPs) on CP activities at the hospital. Research subjects and methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study interviewed with 232 HCPs in December 2022 using a questionnaire including 8 questions about general characteristics, 6 questions about knowledge, 2 questions about practice, and 7 questions about opinions. Results: The proportion of doctors, nurses, and pharmacists answered to the survey were 25.4%, 61.2%, and 13.4%, respectively; was female (70.3%); hold management positions (17.2%). Regarding knowledge, 90,1% HCPs were classified as having "good knowledge" about CP activities. Only 47.4%-66.8% of HCPs knew about 4 guiding procedures related to the use of antibiotics that were issued in hospitals. Regarding practice, 3/4 of HCPs "had professional discussions with clinical pharmacists" during their practice. The rate of HCPs “regularly discussed” was 13.4%. Regarding the types of professional issues discussed with clinical pharmacists, “Drug selection” and “Drug dosage” were the most discussed issues, occurring in 49.1% and 48.7% of HCPs. Most HCPs "had a positive attitude about the role of clinical pharamcists" (97.0%), "were satisfied with CP activities at the hospital" (82.3%), and were "willing to work with clinical pharmacists" (95.2%). Conclusion: The majority of HCPs had good knowledge, had professional exchanges with clinical pharmacists, and had a positive attitude about CP activities at the Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital
