Abstract

Background: Scleroderma, a chronic autoimmune disorder of unknown etiology, lacks specific treatment options and is primarily managed by symptom control. Although medical literature and recent publications show that the effectiveness of combining Traditional Medicine and Modern Medicine in treatment brings good results, studies on scleroderma treatment using Traditional medicine in Vietnam are still limited. Therefore, in the case of effective treatment of scleroderma by combining Traditional Medicine and Modern Medicine, we present a clinical case report. Method: After diagnosing a 50-year-old male patient with symptoms of systemic sclerosis, we collected clinical and paraclinical indicators and observed the treatment process using Traditional medicine and Modern medicine. Results: After 30 days of treatment, there was a noticeable improvement in symptoms. The modified Rodnan skin score (mRSS) remarkably improved, decreasing from 45/51 to 25/51; the VAS score decreased from 6 to 3; Improved skin pigmentation and symptoms according to Traditional Medicine. Conclusions: The treatment of combining modern medicine and traditional medicine in scleroderma brings good results, improving the patient's quality of life.
