Abstract
Background: Thyroid cancer receives great attention from society due to the increasing number of cases. Using inflammatory markers as a factor predicting the growth trend of cancer cells in thyroid cancer. In Vietnam, there have not been many studies on the changes in peripheral blood cell indexes in patients with thyroid cancer, thereby helping treating doctors have more important information about thyroid cancer. Research objectives: Characteristics of some peripheral blood cell indices in first-time thyroid cancer patients at the National Endocrinology Hospital from March to August 2023. Subjects and research methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study. The study subjects include 144 patients diagnosed with thyroid cancer for the first time from March 2023 to the end of August 2023. Results: Red blood cell (RBC) count was 4.66± 0.48 T/L, mild anemia accounted for 11.1%. The white blood cell (WBC) count in the study subjects was 7.23 ± 1.88 G/L, the percentage of white blood cells increased in 6.9%, decreased in 1.4%, the average number of mono white blood cells was 0. ,45 ± 0.2 G/L, Mono increased rate accounted for 44.4%, no patient had Mono leukopenia. Platelet count in thyroid cancer patients was 267 ± 63.57 G/L, increased platelets accounted for 2.1%, decreased platelets accounted for 0.7%. Conclusion: There are changes in peripheral blood cell indices in patients with papillary and follicular thyroid cancer. The number of Mono white blood cells increases mainly in patients with thyroid cancer. There was no change in platelet count index in patients
