EVALUATION OF SURGICAL RESULTS OF TREATMENT OF TESTICULAR TORSION AT HANOI MEDICAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL PERIOD 2020 – 2023

Abstract
Objective: Evaluate the results of surgical treatment of testicular torsion at Hanoi Medical University Hospital in the period 2020-2023. Subjects and methods: Retrospective descriptive study, convenience sampling on 33 patients undergoing surgical treatment of testicular torsion at Hanoi Medical University Hospital from January 2020 to October 2023. Results: The average age was 20.00 ± 11.98 years (range 1-69 years). The average time from symptom onset to examination was 15.85 ± 28.32 hours. There were 33 patients accounting for 100% having symptoms of testicular pain, 24/33 patients had left testicular torsion. All patients had testicular Doppler ultrasound, 10/33 patients lost pulse signals. There were 10 patients with necrotic testicles who had to have their testicles removed, and 23 cases of testicular detorsion and fixation. Postoperatively, there were 2 cases of surgical wound infection. The average surgery time is 44.39±13.56 minutes. Conclusion: Testicular torsion is a male medical emergency that mainly occurs in young patients. Early diagnosis and timely treatment will increase the rate of testicular preservation as well as reproductive functions for patients.
