CORRELATION OF TUMOR SIZE WITH HISTOPATHOLOGICAL FEATURES IN UVEAL MELANOMA
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To describe histopathologic features of uveal melanoma and evaluate the association between these features and size of the tumors. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study has been conducted on 48 patients with uveal melanoma who were surgically treated and pathologically diagnosed at Vietnam National Eye Hospital from 1/2019 to 9/2023. Results: Among 48 cases of uveal melanoma, the prevalence of medium and large-sized tumor was 75% and 25%, none of them was small-sized. Large-sized tumors were associated with shape, epitheloid cell and rupture of Bruch’s membrane, were not associated with vascular invasion, invasion of optic nerve and extraocular invasion. Conclusions: Tumor size was associated with some unfavorable prognosis factors (shape of the tumor, epitheloid cell and rupture of Bruch’s membrane) in uveal melanoma.
