Abstract

Objective: Describe knowledge, practice and identify some factors related to adolescent  reproductive health in Pupils of Ly Thuong Kiet high school, Yen Bai city in 2023. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study with analysis was carried out to directly interview 400 pupils at the time of May 2023. Results: The rate of pupils with correct knowledge about puberty accounted for 68,3%, understanding about adolescence accounted for 59,5%. Pupil  understanding about sexually transmitted diseases accounted for 52,3%, understanding about symptoms of STIs accounted for 26,5%. The level of pupils' good knowledge about reproductive health accounted for 52,7%, poor knowledge accounted for 47,3%. Periodic reproductive health examination accounted for 69,5%, using condoms during sex accounted for 64,8%. Awareness about safe sex is still low, accounting for 36.8%. Menstrual hygiene methods in female pupils accounted for 39%. The level of good practice on reproductive health of students accounted for 45,2%, bad practice accounted for 54,8%. There is a relationship between Gender, grade level, guidance from parents, from teachers and pupils' knowledge and practice of reproductive health care. Conclusion: The rate of pupils' good knowledge and good practice on reproductive health is still low, accounting for 52,7% and 45,2%. It is necessary to regularly communicate health education, guidance and reminders on reproductive health from families and schools so that pupil have knowledge, skills and good practices in adolescent reproductive health care.
