Abstract

Objectives: Describe the traditional medicine patterns of patients with type 2 diabetes Subjects and Methods: A cross-sectional study, conducted on 197 patients treated at Ministry of Public Security hospital of Traditional Medicine. Results: The mean age in the study was 68.96 ± 9.82 (years). Male/Female ratio was 1/1.32. The disease duration was mainly over 10 years (40.61%). 47.2% of patients had normal BMI and 47.2% others were overweight and obese. The mean of waist circumference of the male was 87.19 ± 12.08 (cm); of the female was 84,71 ± 14,42 (cm). The percentege of the patients in qi and yang deficiency syndrome was 31%, yang deficiency syndrome was 22.8%, dry-heat syndrome was 17.8%, yin and yang deficiency was 15.7% and blood stasis syndrome was 12.7%. Conclusion: Type 2 Diabetes patients treated at Ministry of Public Security hospital of Traditional Medicine had the age over 60 and the rate of females higher than males. 39.59% of the patients had waist circumference exceeding standards. In traditional medicine patterns of the patients, Qi and yang deficiency syndrome had the highest rate and blood stasis syndrome ratio was lowest
