Abstract

Objectives: Evaluate changes in IPSS and QoL scores in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia treated with bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate. Subjects and research methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study, on 63 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia who were treated by bipolar transurethral resection of prostate at Thai Nguyen Central Hospital from February 2022 to June 2023. Results: The mean of age was 75.17 ± 8.81 (57-96). The IPSS scores preoperative and postoperative were 25.94 ± 4.29 and 8.48 ± 1.69. The QoL scores preoperative and postoperative were 4.48 ± 0.72 and 1.78 ± 0.58. The mean of time for operative 53.05 ± 14.87 minutes, the mean of postoperative time 6.46 ± 1.49 days. No complications during operative. Conclusion: Bipolar transurethral resection of prostate was a safe and effective method in the in improving lower urinary tract symptoms.
