Abstract

Objectives: To survey knowledge and attitudes on foot self-care of type 2 diabetes patients and some factors related to knowledge and attitudes at Hanoi Medical University Hospital in the period 2022- 2023. Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 200 type 2 diabetes patients following ADA criteria in 2017, greater than or equal 18 of age, and agreed to participate study. Results: According to the Wagner classification show that 6.5% of patients have complications at level 2- 5 and have to medical care; 59.5% have been type 2 diabetse for under five years; 67% in rural areas; 87% have comorbidities diseases. The average knowledge score was 5.35 ± 2.22. The knowledge of female patients was better than male patients 2.6 times. The average attitude score was 7.28 ± 2.01. The group that was provided and received instructions had the average knowledge and attitude score higher than the remaining group. Conclusion: The majority of patients had pretty positive foot self-care but their knowledge was still deficient.
