Abstract

Background: The dorsal metacarpal artery perforator flap is a versatile solution for resurfacing soft-tissue defects of finger. It is very suitable for shaping to cover skin defects in long fingers because or the material and position of the flap, dose not affect hand funciton. Subject and methods: A prospective and retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 31 patients who were reconstructed by transpalpation of the finger at Viet Tiep Hospital from January 2018 to May 2023. Results: Out of the total 39 flaps, there were no cases of bleeding at the donor and recipient sites; no infection at the donor site; 1 case of infection at the receiving site; 2 flaps were partially necrotic in less than 1/3 of the area; and 2 flaps were completely necrotic. There were 28 cases of temporary venous stasis in the flap. The largest flap is the perforating flap of the dorsal interosseous artery, with dimensions of 2.5*6cm. Conclusion: The transparal palmar flap is a reliable solution for covering small and medium finger defects.
