Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the treatment outcomes at the time of discharge and neurological recovery using the CPC scale at the Emergency Department and the Intensive Care Unit of Bach Mai Hospital. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study analysis. Results: A total of 381 patients with cardiac arrest were included in the study, with an average age of 57±22.7 years, 62.1% were male and 37.9% were female. Respiratory causes account for the highest rate (31.6%), followed by cardiovascular diseases (28.1%). The mean time of CPR was 15±9. The number of patients who underwent hypothermia therapy was 36, accounting for 9.3%. The survival rate at discharge was 32.8%. At 30 days after discharge, the number of patients with good neurological recovery was 14.8%. Conclusion: Patients with in-hospital and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest have a 32.8% survival rate; only 14.8% of patients have a good neurological outcome. Discussion: This study shows that the treatment outcomes at the time of discharge and neurological recovery using the CPC scale at the Emergency Department and the Intensive Care Unit of Bach Mai Hospital are not high.
