Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of medical treatment of unruptured ectopic pregnancy with single dose Methotrexate (MTX). Study Design and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 98 patients diagnosed with unruptured ectopic pregnancies treated with a single dose of MTX at the gynecology outpatient clinic of Hanoi Obstetrics Hospital from July 2021 to June 2022. Results: The average age of the study participants was 39.5 ± 4.2, with 48% nulliparous patients and 61.2% having a history of curettage or miscarriage. The highest treatment success rate was observed in patients with initial βhCG levels below 500mIU/ml and ectopic mass size smaller than 20mm. Initial βhCG levels and smaller ectopic mass size were associated with higher success rates, and this difference was statistically significant with p < 0.05. Adverse effects were observed in 32.65% of patients, mostly mild and not requiring treatment. Conclusion: Lower initial βhCG levels and smaller ectopic mass size are associated with higher success rates in the treatment of unruptured ectopic pregnancies with MTX
