Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: Determine the average pain score of children with and without using Lidocaine-Prilocaine 5% cream during venipuncture procedures at Children's Hospital 1. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional of 80 pediatric patients. Implementation time from February 2020 to July 2020 at Children's Hospital 1. Results: Average pain score of the group using Lidocaine-Prilocaine 5% cream (X̅ = 1.75, SD = 1.12), the average pain score of the group not using Lidocaine-Prilocaine 5% cream (X̅ = 4.05, SD = 2.86). The amplitude of pulse variation in the group of children using Lidocaine-Prilocaine 5% cream (9,8 ± 12,62) was less than the group not using Lidocaine-Prilocaine 5% cream (18,33 ± 14,79) with p = 0,009. Variations in breathing rate and SpO2 concentration did not differ between the 2 groups of children. Conclusion: During venipuncture procedures, the group of children who used Lidocaine - Prilocaine 5% cream had lower pain scores than the pain scores of the group of children who did not use it.
