INITIAL REVIEW OF OBSTETRICAL OUTCOMES OF PREGNANT WOMENS INFECTED WITH HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS IN THE INFECTION DEPARTMENT OF HANOI OBSTETRICS HOSPITAL

Abstract
Background: Diseases caused by the genital herpes simplex virus is a common disease with more than 67% of the world's population having HSV. Not only that, the prevalence of the disease has also increased rapidly over the past 4 decades. . However, in Vietnam, there is currently no detailed research on the clinical epidemiological characteristics and effects of Herpes simplex virus on the health of pregnant women and newborns. Objective: To the describe clinical characteristics and factors related to Herpes simplex virus infection in pregnant women and newborns. To evaluate the effects of Herpes simplex virus infection in pregnancy and treatment attitudes. Subjects: 30 pregnant women admitted to Department C3 of Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital during the period May 2022 to December 2022. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study. Results: Patients were mainly married women aged 21-25 (50%), with a history of sexually transmitted diseases (60%), of which 15/18 patients had HIV. Fetal characteristics were relatively normal with fetal heart rate within limits (137.71 ± 24.23), uterine height commensurate with gestational age (32.14 ± 5.87). Regarding the labor process, uterine contractions are in the range of 51.85 ± 8.33, cervical effacement is 50 ± 23.78, dilation is 1.47 ± 0.94 cm, intermediate uterine direction is 66.67. %, bishop 4.63 ± 0.96. Most of the patients' clinical symptoms were local symptoms with burning (70%), pain (23.33%). The main ulcer characteristics are dry ulcers (70%), clear fluid (20%), and pus fluid (10%); round (60.0%) and deep (50%) shape. Regarding paraclinical, 100% of patients tested positive with HSV rapid test. There was 1 case of miscarriage among pregnant women with HSV (3.33%), other complications such as herpes hepatitis and herpes meningitis were not observed in the subject group. Conclusion: HSV infection has the main risk factors being young age group and a history of STDs, clinical features are mainly local symptoms with normal fetal and pregnancy characteristics. The only effect of HSV on pregnancy examined in the study was miscarriage.
