Abstract

Research objectives: To describe the knowledge about gastro-duodenal ulcer disease of in-patients at Can Tho Central General Hospital in 2023. Subjects and research methods: In a cross-sectional descriptive study with was conducted on 250 in-patients who were diagnosed with gastro-duodenal ulcer disease through by endoscopy, and this study was carried out from April 2023 to August 2023. Results: General knowledge about this disease with score: 29.6% correctly understood the main causes of the disease; Knowledge about the role of diet and foods with score:50.0% of people choose a diet rich in fiber and 50.0% think they should eat soft rice, bread, and soup; Knowledge about the role of lifestyle with score: Most people believe that only alcohol and strong tea are harmful to the stomach, while coffee is not harmful to the stomach and Knowledge about the role of using drug for prevention of re-ulcer of gastro-duodenal with score: 54.8% of patients said that the dose should be reduced when symptoms have disappeared. Conclusion: Knowledge about the role of lifestyle for gastro-duodenal ulcer disease of patients is much better than other issues, while General knowledge of patients about this disease; Patient’s knowledge about the role of diet and foods and about the role of using drug for prevention of re-ulcer of gastro-duodenal are still limited
