Abstract

Aims: To review some relevant clinically and paraclinically features for signet – ring cell   gastric cancer. Objectives: 102 patients with signet – ring cell gastric cancer who were experiended radical gastrectomy at Vietnam National Cancer hospital. Method: Retrospective descriptive study. Results: The average age of disease: 58,22 ± 12,30 (28-91). Male/female ratio = 1,43. History  of  gastritis 27,45%;  10,78% of patients have relatives who have gastric cancer. Epigastric abdominal pain (93,14%); gastrointestinal bleeding (9,80%); pyloric stenosis (6,86%). 53,92% of patients with anemia on tests. Blood group A has a high rate (40,39%). Morphology according to Borrman: type 1 (20,59%); type 2 (57,84%);  type  3  (18,63%)  and  type  4  (2,94%). Only 20,59% of patients are in stage pT1. The proportion of patients with lymph node spread is high (56,86%). Disease stage is related to the rate of lymph node spread. 22,55 % of preoperative diagnosis is non - signet ring cell gastric cancer. Conclusion: Signet – ring cell carcinoma has the characteristics of clinical and subclinical  differences. This will help clinicians to have more appropriate approaches and treatment strategies for this disease
